London 2019 Preliminaries

That’s a wrap on our London 2019 preliminary rounds!

We have been so delighted by the standard set by all of our contestants during the four first rounds of The Coffee Music Project London 2019. Our panel spends hours deliberating and narrowing down over 100 artist submissions and it’s always exciting to see things kick off on the live stage. There is only so much our panel can gauge from an online submission and there are sure to be a few surprises when it gets to the live rounds!

For each round our acts had to perform two original songs at the intimate Soho Residence. Our esteemed judging panel made up of Laurence Hobbs, Martin West, James Merritt, James Morgan, Jnay, John Landau and Jamie Hetherington, then had the incredibly difficult task of deciding who would make it through to our semi-finals.

In all rounds, the audience vote was considered but never was it more crucial than our third round when the judges were completely blown away with every performance. It’s situations like those when our judges really have to iron out the technicalities, and the final decision even made our host Rochelle quite emotional! We know how hard each of our artists work and appreciate the time and effort they put in at every stage of the competition, so congratulations everyone on your performance.

We would love to be taking so many of our preliminary contestants through to our semi-finals on 19th and 26 March but unfortunately we have to make a decision. You can find the full line up of artists on our London page. We’ll also be taking two lucky wild cards through – but you’ll have to find out who we chose on the night!

We’re moving just over the road for our semi-finals to Freedom. Every round we take it up a notch and Freedom promises to be no different. Hope to see you there! Make sure you get your tickets early and come support your favourites, whilst raising money for a fantastic cause.
